I. Overview of the work of the Society

In 2018, the Society thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the Society conscientiously implemented the arrangements made by the Leading Party Members' Group of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Leading Party Members' Group of the China Association for Science and Technology, and persisted in focusing on the central task, serving the overall interests and being brave in reform and innovation. With the continuous expansion of the work field, the continuous improvement of the quality of activities, the continuous improvement of service ability and level, the cause development of the Society has entered a new stage and its influence at home and abroad has been further expanded. In 2018, it was selected as the world-class society construction project. Its sponsored journal Scientia Silvae Sinicae was selected into the "Top 100 Fine Quality Journals" for the 16th consecutive time, and was selected into the pilot project of precise push service for sci-tech journals of China Association for Science and Technology; "Technology and Science Awards of Liang Xi" was evaluated as excellent by the National Office for Science & Technology Awards, ranking ninth among all awards set up by social forces; the General Party Branch of the Society was awarded the title of "Excellent Party Organization" by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and the Party Committee was awarded the title of "Excellent Star Level Party Organization" by China Association for Science and Technology.

X. Events

On January 15, 2018, the world-famous database EI Compendex released the latest journal catalog, and Scientia Silvae Sinicae was kept included. In the newly published EI database catalog, Scientia Silvae Sinicae was the only forestry science and technology journal included.

From January 16 to 18, 2018, the China Association for Science and Technology held the Analysis Seminar on Prevention and Control of Biological Disasters in Beijing. The Chinese Society of Forestry organized 15 experts engaged in forest conservation, administrators and entrepreneur representatives from the Department of Afforestation and Greening Management of the State Forestry Administration, the General Station of Forest Pest Management of the State Forestry Administration, Beijing Forestry University, Northeast Forestry University, Nanjing Forestry University, and Chinese Academy of Forestry to participate in the seminar.

On January 17, 2018, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television issued a notice on the commendation decision of the "Fourth Chinese Government Award for Publishing". Scientia Silvae Sinicae won the nomination award of Chinese Government Award for Publishing for Journals, which is the only one of forestry science and technology journals to win the award.

On January 29, 2018, the Council Meeting of Chinese Society of Forestry was held in Beijing to comprehensively summarize the work of the Society in 2017 and study the key work arrangements in 2018. The meeting was presided over by Zhao Shucong, President of  Chinese Society of Forestry. The meeting heard, deliberated and approved the Work Report of Chinese Society of Forestry in 2017 and Key Work Suggestions in 2018, reported the establishment of the Party Committee of the Council of the Society and its work development, deliberated and approved the Management Measures for Branches of Chinese Society of Forestry (Revision), and deliberated and approved the establishment, renaming and general election of branches.

From January 24 to 26, 2018, the Academic Seminar of Chinese Young Forestry Experts Helping Rural Revitalization Strategy sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry was successfully held in Tonglu County, Zhejiang Province. More than 80 representatives attended the Seminar.

From January 30 to 31, 2018, the Lvliang Seminar on "Developing Economic Forests to Help Targeted Poverty Alleviation" was successfully held in Lvliang City, which was sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry and Lvliang Municipal People's Government, and organized by Shanxi Society of Forestry and Lvliang Forestry Bureau.

On March 13, 2018, Zhao Shucong, President of the Chinese Society of Forestry, led the leading bodies of the Secretariat of the Society and the main leaders of each department to visit the site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China and review the oath of joining the Party.

On March 14, 2018, the Secretary-General Meeting of the Chinese Society of Forestry & the Symposium of Some Presidents (Chairman) of the Society were held in Shanghai to summarize the work of the Society in 2017, arrange and deploy the work in 2018, exchange work experience and commend advanced units.

On March 24, 2018, the National Academic Seminar on Under-forest Economy was held in Anji County, Zhejiang Province. Zhao Shucong (President of Chinese Society of Forestry), Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry), Liu Jiashun (Inspector of the Department of Rural Forestry Reform and Development of State Forestry Administration), Wu Hong (Inspector of the Department of Forestry of Zhejiang Province and President of Zhejiang Society of Forestry), Zhao Deqing (Deputy Secretary of Anji County Party Committee and more than 200 people from all over the country engaged in under-forest economic research, management and production practice participated in the Seminar.

On March 24, 2018, the theme activity of Clear Waters and Green Hills Will Not Be Forgotten - Commemorating the 130th Anniversary of Chen Rong's Birth" was held in Anji County, Zhejiang Province. Nearly 400 people, including Zhao Shucong (President of Chinese Society of Forestry), Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry), Liu Jiashun (Inspector of the Department of Rural Forestry Reform and Development of State Forestry Administration), relevant leaders of Zhejiang Province and Anji County and descendants of Chen Rong attended the commemorative activities.

On March 28, 2018, the Summary and Kick-off Meeting of the Young Talent Lift Project of Chinese Society of Forestry was successfully held in the Northeast Forestry University in Harbin. The meeting comprehensively summarized the implementation of the First Young Talent Lift Project, and signed the project implementation agreement with the objects of third young talent lift project and their universities.

On the afternoon of March 28, 2018, the Symposium of Member Representatives of Chinese Society of Forestry was held in the Northeast Forestry University in Harbin to widely listen to the opinions and suggestions of members and scientific and technological workers on the work of the Society.

On the morning of March 30, 2018, members of the Chinese Society of Forestry held a voluntary tree planting activity in the Beijing Botanical Garden to welcome the 34th voluntary tree planting day of Beijing, so as to improve public ecological awareness and promote ecological civilization. About 40 people participated in the tree planting activity, including Peng Youdong (Member of the Leading Party Group & Deputy Director of the State Forestry Administration), Zhao Shucong, President of the Chinese Society of Forestry), Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Forestry), Wu Bin (Vice President of the Chinese Society of Forestry), Li Dongsheng and Liu Hesheng (Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Forestry) and representatives of some members of the Chinese Society of Forestry.

On April 24, 2018, Peng Youdong (Deputy Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration) and Zhao Shucong (President of the Chinese Society of Forestry) met with foreign experts attending the "Fifth International Forum on Forest Science & High-end Seminar on Forest Management", including Ms. Sophie de Bentzmann (Science and Technology Commissioner of the French Embassy in China), Ms. Camille Musquar (Assistant Science and Technology Commissioner of the French Embassy in China), Mr. Heinrich Spiecker (Professor, University of Freiburg, Germany), Mr. Alfred Pitterle (Associate Professor,Institute of Forest Cultivation, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna) and Mr. Yves Ehrhart (Professor, Agro Paris Tech, France).

On April 25, 2018, Chen Wenshuai (Candidate of the Third Young Talent Lift Project of China Association for Science and Technology & Associate Professor of School of Materials Science and Engineering of Northeast Forestry University and Key Laboratory of Bio-based Material Science and Technology of Ministry of Education) published a review article in the international authoritative review journal Chemical Society Reviews (Impact Factor 38.618) as the first author.

On April 24, 2018, "Fifth International Forum on Forest Science & High-end Seminar on Forest Management" was successfully held in Beijing Forestry University. The conference was jointly sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry, Natural Forest Protection Project Management Center of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Zhonglin Union Forestry Intelligence, Research Center of Forest Management Engineering of National Forestry and Grassland Administration and Sino-German Cooperative Forest Policy Dialogue Project Office, and jointly organized by Zhonglin Forestry Union Planning and Design Consulting and Beijing Forestry University, with the theme of ''theoretical practice and international experience of scientific forest management''. Peng Youdong (Deputy Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration) and Zhao Shucong (President of the Chinese Society of Forestry) attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

On May 17, 2018, Hao Yujun, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, led the persons chiefly in charge of the Comprehensive Department, Innovation Department, Standards Department, Promotion Department and other departments to the Society for investigation and research. Chen Xingliang (Secretary General of the Society), Li Dongsheng and Liu Hesheng (Deputy Secretary General of the Society) and persons chiefly in charge of various departments of the Society attended the investigation symposium.

On May 20, 2018, the launching ceremony of the Science and Technology Week of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration was held in Northwest A&F University. It was sponsored by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and organized by 13 units, including the Department of Science and Technology of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Chinese Society of Forestry, and the Northwest A&F University. Peng Youdong, Deputy Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, attended the launching ceremony of the activity week. Nearly 100 experts, teachers and students from relevant provincial forestry departments, scientific research institutions and colleges and universities participated in the activity.

On May 23, 2018, 12 people consisting of Wang Yanhu (Secretary of the Party Committee of the China Association for Science and Technology and Deputy Head of the Leading Group for the Preparation and Construction of the History Museum of the China Association for Science and Technology & Office Director) and his party visited the Society for investigation and research.

From April 17 to 19, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry organized Dr. Xie Jinzhong (Secretary General of the Bamboo Branch) and other relevant experts to the Forestry Science Research Institute of Tibet Municipality to carry out scientific and technological assistance activities, providing on-the-spot technical guidance on the moisture preservation and storage of bamboo seedlings, the pruning of bamboo seedlings, the methods for the excavation of planting holes and the use of base fertilizer, the planting methods of bamboo seedlings, the water management technology, and the construction of shade sheds.

On the morning of May 29, 2018, the launching ceremony of the Second "Vision · Beautiful China" Art Design Competition sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry was launched in Nanjing Forestry University. Li Dongsheng (Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry), Professor Wang Hao (President of Nanjing Forestry University), Professor Yong Qiang (Vice President of Nanjing Forestry University) and Wang Xiang (former Inspector of the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department of Jiangsu Province attended the launching ceremony.

From June 1 to 3, 2018, the 13th Forestry Talents Annual Conference of China was successfully held in Jiangxi Agricultural University. The conference was jointly sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry and Jiangxi Agricultural University, and jointly organized by Youth Working Committee of Chinese Society of Forestry, College of Forestry of Jiangxi Agricultural University and Jiangxi Society of Forestry. More than 1,200 representatives attended the conference. Leaders such as Zhao Shucong (President of Chinese Society of Forestry) and other guests attended the opening ceremony and were seated on the platform.

On June 1, 2018, the Third Enlarged Standing Committee Meeting of the Third Youth Working Committee of Chinese Society of Forestry was held in Nanchang. More than 70 people including Zeng Xiangwei (Chairman of the Youth Working Committee and Director of the Academic Department of Chinese Society of Forestry) attended the meeting.

From May 31 to June 1, 2018, the "International Seminar Training on Oak Management & Founding Meeting of Oak Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry" was held in Jiuhua villa, Beijing. Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry) and Liu Min (Representative of Sino-German Forestry Policy Dialogue Platform) attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General) awarded the certificate of "International Consulting Expert of Chinese Society of Forestry" to Klaus von Gadow (former Director of the Forest Management and Harvest Research Institute of Gottingen University, Germany.

On June 5, 2018, 2018 Forest China Campaign, jointly sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry, China Guanghua Foundation, and China Wildlife Conservation Association and specially supported by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, was officially launched in Beijing Xishan National Forest Park. Zhang Yongli (Member of the Leading Party Group and Deputy Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration), Fu Zhenbang (Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League), Zhao Shucong (President of the Chinese Society of Forestry), Hou Baosen (Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the China Guanghua Foundation), Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Forestry), Li Qingwen (Vice President and Secretary General of the China Wildlife Conversation Association) and other leaders of the sponsoring and supporting cooperation units attended the activity. Representatives from more than 100 news media, including Guangming Daily, Green Times, Xinhuanet, people.com.cn, Sina and Sohu, as well as representatives selected into "7 news media of forest culture town", attended the launching ceremony.

On June 5, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry held the Symposium on Deepening Service of forest Culture Town in 2018.

On June 14, 2018, "Academic Exchange Meeting of Chinese Society of Forestry of Six Provinces and One City in East China & National Academic Seminar on Acer Truncatum Industry Development" was successfully held in Tengzhou City, Shandong Province. Zhao Shucong, President of Chinese Society of Forestry, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

On the morning of June 15, 2018, Ningbo Special Forest Products Exhibition and Sales Center, which is the first physical store of "local expert products" founded by Ningbo Service Station of Chinese Society of Forestry, officially opened for business. 18 local forestry experts and 4 leading forestry enterprises in Ningbo have been settled in the physical store. The products include all kinds of fresh fruits, dried fruits, tea, bamboo shoot products, under-forest edible fungi and Chinese herbal medicines, refined camellia oil, bamboo processing products, bamboo furniture, etc.

From June 13 to 15, 2018, the First Training Course for Party Cadres of the National Societies of the China Association for Science and Technology in 2018 was successfully held in Beidaihe Campus of Nanjing Forest Police College. The training course was organized by the Party Committee of Chinese Society of Forestry and co-organized by the State Academy of Forestry Administration. A total of 47 party organization secretaries of the Agencies of the National Societies and committee members participated in the training.

From June 20 to 22, 2018, Zhao Shucong (President of the Chinese Society of Forestry), Chen Xingliang (Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Forestry) and Huang Kebiao (Project Officer of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Network attended the Fourth International Conference of IUFRO on "Challenges Faced by Afforestation" held in Belgrade, Serbia, and visited and met with Professor Ratko Ristic, Dean of the College of Forestry, University of Belgrade.

On June 22, 2018, the Editorial Department of Scientia Silvae Sinicae donated 5,145 yuan to the China Green Foundation to support the ecological public welfare project of "Happy Home - Western Greening Action", and to assist poor families in Hongsibao District, Wuzhong City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to plant 514 Lycium barbarum ecological economic trees. This is the fourth donation from the Editorial Department of Scientia Silvae Sinicae to the China Green Foundation.

On June 25, 2018, the Dialogue on Bamboo Industry Cooperation and People-to-people Exchanges between China, Japan and South Korea was successfully held in the National Convention Center. The conference was jointly sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry, International Network for Bamboo & Rattan, Japanese Forestry Society and Korean Forestry Society, and jointly organized by Bamboo Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry, Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry of Chinese Academy of Forestry, Zhejiang A&F University, Nanjing Forestry University, International Center for Bamboo and Rattan and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. Chen Xingliang, Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry, attended the conference.

On June 28, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry held the Media Promotion Meeting of "Science China" National Forestry and Grassland Science Micro-video Innovation Competition in Beijing, to release and promote the contents, channels and resources of the 2018 Micro-video Innovation Competition. Li Dongsheng, Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry, attended the meeting.

On July 6, 2018, "Eco Forum Global - Dialogue between Chinese and Foreign Experts on Forestry and Ecosystem Governance" was held in Guiyang International Conference Center. The theme of the meeting is new orientation and new mission of forestry in the new era. It was sponsored by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Guizhou Provincial People's Government and the China Office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), organized by Chinese Society of Forestry, Department of Forestry of Guizhou Province and Guiyang Ecological Civilization Construction Council, and co-organized by Guizhou Society of Forestry, Guizhou University and Guizhou Academy of Forestry. Peng Youdong (Deputy Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration) and Zhao Shucong (President of the Chinese Society of Forestry) attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Marcus Hawkins (Vice Chairman of the World Commission on Protected Area), Feng Sike Teresa (Deputy Coordinator of the Oak Ecology and Afforestation Working Group of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), and nearly 100 Chinese and foreign experts from home and abroad attended the conference.

From July 7 to 10, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry sent an oak expert group to Benxi, Liaoning to assist in oak management in Eastern Liaoning Province, aiming to spread and popularize oak resources and the importance of oak management, and to share advanced concepts and technologies in the world and in China.

On July 11, 2018, the opening and signing ceremony of "Northern Oak Management Research Institute" was held in Benxi, Liaoning. Chen Xingliang, Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry and Executive Vice President of Oak Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

From July 11 to 12, 2018, 25 people consisting of Zhao Shucong (President of the Chinese Society Forestry) and his party of the Secretariat of the Society carried out the theme party day activities in Yuanshan Forest Farm in Shandong Province. Chen Xingliang (Secretary General of the Society & Secretary of the General Party Branch), Li Dongsheng and Liu Hesheng (Deputy Secretary General & Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch), as well as all Party members and staff of the Secretariat of the Society, participated in the theme party day activities.

From July 16 to 20, 2018, the 35th Youth Forestry Science Camp was held in Yangtze Alligator National Nature Reserve of Anhui. The science camp was sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry, and organized by Anhui Society of Forestry, Anhui Administration of Yangtze Alligator National Nature Reserve and Wuhu City Yutianrun Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. more than 80 teachers and students from five primary and secondary schools including Beijing NO.4 High School, Beijing No.8 High School and Tsinghua University High School participated in the activity.

From July 18 to 20, 2018, the Second China Shanghai International Bamboo Industry Exhibition & 2018 China (Shanghai) Bamboo Industry Development Symposium was successfully held in Shanghai. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Society of Forestry, the International Center for Bamboo and Rattan, the International Network for Bamboo & Rattan and the China Bamboo Industry Association. More than 200 leaders and experts including Li Dongsheng (Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry) attended the meeting.

On July 24, 2018, eight people consisting of Liu Mingbo (Head of Jinping County People's Government) and his party went to the Chinese Society of Forestry for the docking activity of "Jinping Documents and High-Level Meeting on Ecological High-Value Economic Development". Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry), Zhao Jianjun (Professor of the Social Development Research Center of the Party School of the Central Committee) and Long Zaihua (Chairman of Perfect CTV International Media Group of CCTV) attended the symposium.

From August 2 to 4, 2018, "Site Meeting on Guidance for the Construction of Modern Forestry Science and Technology Demonstration Garden & Helping the Construction of Oak Near Natural Man-made Forest in Rizhao" was successfully held in Rizhao. The meeting was sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry and organized by Rizhao Forestry Bureau. More than 40 people, including Zhao Shucong (President of Chinese Society of Forestry), Liu Jungang (Vice Chairman of Shandong Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the Department of Forestry of Shandong Province), Wang Zhuxiong (Honorary President of Oak Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry), Xu Shuli (Vice Mayor of Rizhao City, Shandong Province), Alfred Pitterle (Professor of the University of Natural Resources Vienna, Austria), Hui Gangying (Vice President of Oak Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry), Wang Yanhui, Xu Chengli and other experts and enterprise representatives, attended the meeting.

On August 3, 2018, Zhao Shucong (President of the Chinese Society of Forestry) and Liu Jungang (Vice Chairman of Shandong Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the Department of Forestry of Shandong Province) jointly unveiled the China (Rizhao) Modern Forestry Science and Technology Demonstration Garden. China (Rizhao) Modern Forestry Science and Technology Demonstration Garden is a forestry science and technology demonstration garden jointly built by Chinese Society of Forestry, Department of Forestry of Shandong Province and Rizhao Municipal People's Government, integrating germplasm resource collection, scientific and technological demonstration and innovation, and ecological tourism landscape, with a total area of 5,000 mu.

On August 3, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry organized experts to evaluate the scientific and technological achievements of the Forestry Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, i.e. "comprehensive evaluation and management technology of natural forest stand status in Northwest China". Chen Xingliang, Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

On August 10, 2018, at the invitation of the Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry of Chinese Academy of Forestry, Zhang Junying (Associate Editor-in-Chief and Director of Editorial Department of Scientia Silvae Sinicae) led Editor Yu Jingxian to hold a journal symposium in the Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry, Fuyang. More than 60 researchers, postgraduates and relevant personnel from the Management Department of the Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry attended the symposium.

From August 21 to 23, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry organized well-known oak experts at home and abroad to help Shenyang Agricultural University in the construction of oak management demonstration model base. The oak model base will be China's first international-level natural oak management model base.

From August 21 to 24, 2018, the 2018 Standing Committee & Academic Seminar sponsored by Pine Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry was held in Tianshui, Gansu, and more than 70 representatives attended the meeting.

On August 29, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry held the Symposium on the Orientation & Growing up of Young Cadres. Chen Xingliang (Secretary General) made a speech at the symposium, Li Dongsheng and Liu Hesheng (Vice Secretary General) and all staff and workers of the Secretariat of the Society attended the meeting.

From August 29 to 31, 2018, under the organization of the Agricultural Technology Center of the China Association for Science and Technology, Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Forestry) and his party went to Lvliang District to participate in the fixed-point poverty alleviation research in Lin County and Lan County of Shanxi Province organized by the Agricultural Technology Center of China Association for Science and Technology, and jointly studied and implemented the task of fixed-point poverty alleviation.

On August 30, 2018, Li Dongsheng (Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Forestry) met with Michael Mussong (Professor of Eberswalde University in Germany) at the Chinese Society of Forestry. The two sides held discussions on international cooperation in forestry.

On September 4, 2018, the 7th Review Meeting of the Popularization of Forestry Science Award of Liang Xi was held in Beijing. 16 experts from the field of forestry and science popularization reviewed 45 application materials. Chen Xingliang, Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry, attended the meeting.

On September 5, 2018, the Review Meeting for the Supplement of the Fourth Batch of National Forestry Science Popularization Bases was held in Beijing. 11 experts from the field of forestry and science popularization reviewed 74 application materials. Finally, 20 forestry science popularization bases for leisure and recreation, 13 science popularization bases for ecological protection, 11 science popularization bases for teaching and scientific research, and 5 popular science education bases for other categories were supplemented.

On September 5, 2018, the 2017 Edition (i.e. the 8th Edition) of the Guide to the Core Journals of China was released. 1981 core journals were selected from Chinese journals being published in China, and Scientia Silvae Sinicae sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry was once again included in the core "forestry" journals.

On September 8, 2018, at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Annual Meeting of Shanxi Association for Science and Technology, Li Dongsheng, Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry, on behalf of Chinese Society of Forestry, awarded the "National Society Service Station" to Shanxi Society of Forestry, marking that the Chinese Society of Forestry officially established a service station in Shanxi Province and built a new service platform with the local authorities.

From September 12 to 14, 2018, the Hangzhou International Symposium on Forest Recuperation in China, sponsored by the Chinese Society of Forestry and Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, was held in Tonglu. More than 160 representatives including experts, scholars and practitioners from China, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Finland and Germany attended the meeting. Centering on the theme of "building a new social welfare through forest recuperation", the meeting had in-depth exchanges on forest recuperation and medical demonstration, the development status and prospect of forest recuperation, and the role and effect of related therapies in forest recuperation. On September 17, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry organized relevant experts to hold the Group Standard Approval Meeting of the Chinese Society of Forestry in Shenyang, to approve two group standards, namely, the Operating Procedures for Remote Sensing Monitoring of Abnormal Stained Wood by UAV and the Operating Procedures for Aerial Pesticide Application and Prevention and Control of Harmful Organisms.

From September 25 to 27, 2018, the "Opening Ceremony of the First Batch of Oak Management (Experiment) Demonstration Model Base of Chinese Society of Forestry" was successfully held in Pingyao County, Shanxi Province. On September 26, 2018, the China Association for Science and Technology held the China Science and Technology Summit - Ecological Environment Summit Forum & Founding Meeting of the Ecological Environment Industry and Learning Consortium of the China Association for Science and Technology in Suining City, Sichuan Province. The meeting announced the formal establishment of the Ecological Environment Industry and Learning Consortium of the China Association for Science and Technology. Chinese Society of Forestry joined the consortium and was elected as a member unit of the presidium. Researcher Chen Xingliang, Vice President and Secretary General of the Society, was elected as the Chairman of the Advisory Committee for Policy Decision.

From September 26 to 28, 2018, the Yunnan Walnut Industry Development Symposium was held in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan. The meeting was sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry, and attended by Chen Xingliang, Vice President and Secretary General of the Society. More than 260 representatives attended the meeting.

From September 26 to 28, 2018, the Sixth National Seminar on the Development of Forestry Science and Technology Journals of the Forestry Science and Technology Journal Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry was held in Yinchuan, Ningxia. More than 60 representatives from more than 40 forestry science and technology journals from all over the country attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Zhang Junying, Secretary General of the Journal Branch. Li Dongsheng, Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry and Chairman of Forestry Science and Technology Journal Branch, delivered a speech.

On September 28, 2018, the Establishment & Opening Ceremony of Lin County Academician Workstation of Chinese Society of Forestry was held in Fengjiahui Village, Qikou Town. The Talent Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Planning and Finance Department of the China Association for Science and Technology, the Agricultural Technology Center of the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Chinese Society of Forestry sent representatives to attend the meeting. From September 28 to 30, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry organized experts to Ningbo to carry out the Activity of Experts from National Think Tank of Bamboo Industry in Ningbo. On September 29, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry, as the leading unit, won the first batch of National Innovation Alliance of Forestry and Grassland - Oak National Innovation Alliance. This will lay a foundation for the further development of oak production, learning and research.

On October 9, 2018, More than 10 people consisting of Qiao Yun (Deputy Secretary of Lan County Party Committee and Head of the Lan County People's Government of Shanxi Province) and his party visited the Society to have a discussion and exchange on the cooperation between the Society and Lan County in ecological poverty alleviation and rural revitalization. Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General of the Society) and responsible persons of relevant departments and offices attended the symposium.

On October 11, 2018, the first stop of "Oak Culture in China" jointly sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry, IUCN CEC, Oak Ecology and Forest Management Group of IUFRO and Department of Forestry of Shanxi Province was Shanxi Forestry Vocational Technical College to launch the first oak culture into campus activity. Chen Xingliang (Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry), Huang Shouxiao (Chief Planner of the Department of Forestry of Shanxi Province) and Lu Guibin (President of Shanxi Forestry Vocational Technical College) attended the opening ceremony of first station in Shanxi and delivered speeches. On October 30, 2018, the Review Meeting of Excellent Entries of 2018 National Forestry and Grassland Science Micro-video Innovation Competition was held in Beijing. Experts from Wetland Department, Desert Department, Science and Technology Department and Personnel Department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Chinese Academy of Forestry, Society Department and Science Popularization Department of China Association of Science and Technology, Agricultural Technology Center, Popular Science Press, Beijing Forestry University, Beijing No.8 High School, people.com.cn, tencent.com, china science communication.com and China Green Times attended the meeting. The experts covered forest, grassland, wetland, desert and terrestrial wildlife management, science communication and other fields.

From October 31 to November 2, 2018, the 4th China Seminar on Precious Tree Species & Founding Meeting of National Innovation Alliance of Precious Tree Species Industry sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry was held in Chengdu. More than 240 leaders, experts and scientific and technological personnel from National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Chinese Academy of Forestry, branches of Chinese Society of Forestry, agricultural and forestry colleges and universities, scientific research institutes and related enterprises engaged in research, teaching and production practice of precious tree species attended the meeting.

From November 4 to 7, 2018, the "18th National Forest Cultivation Symposium & Summit Forum on Precision Improvement of Plantation Quality" sponsored by Forest Cultivation Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry and organized by Guizhou University was successfully held in Guiyang. The theme of the conference is "forest cultivation in the new era". On November 7, 2018, the review results of the world-class society construction project of China Association for Science and Technology were announced, and the Chinese Society of Forestry was selected as the world-class society construction project.

On November 8, 2018, the latest Chinese S&T Journal Citation Reports (Core Edition) 2018 released by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China showed that the core impact factor and core total cited frequency of Scientia Silvae Sinicae in 2017 ranked the second and the first of 23 core forestry journals respectively. The total score of comprehensive evaluation of the journal ranks the 30th of 2029 core journals in China, and it is the only forestry science and technology journal to enter the top 50.

On November 8, 2018, the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China released the statistical results of China's scientific and technical papers in 2017. Scientia Silvae Sinicae was awarded "Annual Top 100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China" for the 16th time.

On November 13, 2018, the Chinese Society of Forestry organized experts in Beijing to evaluate the achievement of "real-time monitoring and accurate measurement system for aerial pesticide application" jointly completed by Beijing Research Center for Intelligent Agricultural Equipment and Beijing ZNZK Agriculture Technology Corporation Limited. Zhang Shougong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Chinese Academy of Forestry, was the leader of the evaluation expert group. From November 14 to 16, 2018, the 367th Young Scientist Forum of China Association for Science and Technology was held in Changsha, sponsored by China Association for Science and Technology and jointly organized by Chinese Society of Forestry, Beijing Forestry University and Central South University of Forestry and Technology. The theme of the forum was "theory and technology of precise seedling quality improvement and stand regeneration", and more than 80 young experts and scholars from more than 20 units including Chinese Academy of Forestry and Beijing Forestry University in forest cultivation related fields attended the forum.

From November 14 to 16, 2018, the 6th Forestry Academic Conference of China was held in Central South University of Forestry and Technology. The conference, with the theme of "innovation leading: new development of forestry in the new era", was jointly sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry and Central South University of Forestry and Technology, and jointly organized by the Secretariat of Chinese Society of Forestry and Hunan Society of Forestry. On November 15, 2018, the 6th Forestry Academic Conference of China, co-sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry and Central South University of Forestry and Technology, was held in Central South University of Forestry and Technology with the theme of "innovation leading: new development of forestry in the new era". Cao Fuliang, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of Chinese Society of Forestry, made keynote report for the conference. On November 29, 2018, Chinese Society of Forestry organized and held the 2018 Forest Culture Town Evaluation Meeting in Beijing. From December 13 to 14, 2018, Zhang Junying (Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Director of Editorial Department of Scientia Silvae Sinicae) led Wang Yanna (Associate Senior Editor) to hold a lecture on writing standards of scientific and technical papers at Central South University of Forestry and Technology.
